Lord’s Day 7 in Song
MY COMFORT
1.) Are all men saved, as all men died
Through Adam’s sinful deed?
No, only those who by true faith,
Grafted in Christ, indeed.
2.) Then, can you tell me, what’s true faith?
All, in God’s Word revealed,
Eternal righteousness and grace
Through Christ’s own merit sealed.
3.) It is to have firm confidence,
As others, just like me,
God grants forgiveness for our sins
When He died on that tree.
4.) What must a Christian then believe?
All, what He promised true,
Articles of undoubted faith,
Here, summarized for you
5.) (1) That I believe in God alone
Maker of heaven and earth,
(2) And Jesus Christ His only Son
The source of all rebirth.
6.) (3) Conceived by God the Holy Ghost
Through virgin Mary born,
(4) Sentenced by Pontius Pilate;
From life and honour torn.
7.) He entered into Hell’s domain
(5) But rose on the third day,
(6) Exalted at Father’s right hand,
In glorious crowned array.
8.) (7) From there He’ll come to judge all men,
The living and the dead,
(8) And I believe God Holy Ghost
By whom all faith is fed.
9.) (9) One Holy Catholic Christian Church
With His saints, one, made whole,
(10) He, all our sins chose to allay
(11) Renewed in body and soul;
10.) (12) Life promised with no end of day.
Let all give praise and say,
“He is the Alpha – Omega,
Come quickly Lord!” We pray.

- 20. Q. Are all men, then, saved by Christ
just as they perished through Adam?

A. True faith is a sure knowledge

God has granted forgiveness of sins,
everlasting righteousness, and salvation,4
out of mere grace,
only for the sake of Christ’s merits.5
This faith the Holy Spirit works in my heart
by the gospel.6
