The Sea of Crystal

By the Sea of Crystal

A fresh sea of blossoms in early spring on a crystal clear day should encourage us all to remember our Heavenly Father’s promise of a complete renewal, made possible by a true faith and trust in Him, regardless of the winter we are currently enduring.

The theme of this Hymn’s text is drawn from John’s vision of the saints in glory, singing one of their great doxologies (Rev. 7:9-17). The initial reference to the “sea of crystal” is from Revelation 4:6 and the final (rhetorical) reference to the “King of kings” (st. 3) comes from Revelation 17:14.

The Wonder of His Eclipse

General revelation provides us with the knowledge that God exists. “The heavens declare the glory of God,” says the psalmist [in Psalm 19].

God’s glory is displayed in the works of His hands. This display is so clear and manifest that no creature can possibly miss it.

It unveils God’s eternal power and deity (Romans 1: 18– 23). Revelation in nature does not give a full revelation of God. It does not give us the information about God the Redeemer that we find in the Bible. But the God who is revealed in nature is the same God who is revealed in Scripture.

Not everyone in the world has read the Bible or heard the gospel proclaimed. But the light of nature shines upon everyone in every place, in every time. God’s general revelation takes place every day. He is never without a witness to Himself.

“Holy, Holy, Holy” is a Christian hymn written by Reginald Heber in 1826. The hymn is based on Isaiah 6:1-3 and Revelation 4:8, which describe the worship of God by angels in heaven. The hymn is often sung to the tune “Nicaea,” which was composed by John B. Dykes in 1861. The video location is along the northern shore of Lake Erie near Kingsville ON.
